THRONE KING(S) OF THE HILLVenom wins $1000 top prizeJuly 13, 2007 It was a history-making race Friday evening at Delaware Speedway. The largest weekly racing crowd in recent memory was on had to experience Summit Foods night, and the $1,000.00 to win Throne Kings of the Hill Spectators Race presented by APC / CANUSA, Huron Produce & Ron O’Brien Remax. The opening ceremonies of the race were delayed about 15 minutes from normal in order to give Delaware’s hard-working front gate staff a opportunity to allow more fans to enter the facility to find their seats before the green flag. Fans continued to flow into the facility well into the heat race portion of the program. The highly anticipated Throne Kings of the Hill spectator race featured all the Throne Kings of the Hill favourites. The Indy 500 Pace Car, White Rabbit, Hercules, the driver of the original Shoebox, Grocery Getter and the legendary Venom were all on had to take their crack at the $1,000.00.
The next $1,000.00 to win Throne Kings of the Hill spectator race will be on All-Truck Night, August 3rd. The event will be the same format, with the added rule that the vehicles must be truck-type (ie. Pickup, SUV etc.). Fan-favourite Grocery Getter found himself eliminated early in competition. The final (pitted) Venom vs. Hercules the (red S-10) Truck. Venom’s horsepower proved too much for the powerful Hercules and took the win. In victory lane Venom graciously donated part of his winnings to the Make-A-Wish charity.
