bulletEVENT REPORTS

  • E26: Junior Late Model Race #6, Oct. 20, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
This was our last race of the year. In Practice that car was loose in, tight off. In Heat 1 we managed a 3rd, in Heat 2 a 5th. We started the Feature in 11th and started to move up. On lap 3 somebody decided to make it 4 wide on the back stretch, #21 got sideways in front of us, and we got pushed into the wall. We re-started the race in 14th and moved to 8th (out of 17) by the end of the race.

  • E24: Junior Late Model Race #5, Oct. 06, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
This was our first race in Peterborough. The weather was wild - windy and cold, with sun, rain, and snow! The car was good in practice and in Heat 1 we started 11th and climbed to 3rd. We felt we could do better in a longer race. The Feature was delayed due to the weather. We started 5th. There were lots of spins on the damp track. Soon it was raining and they finally red-flagged the race. We had moved to 2nd but they scored is on the previous lap - 3rd.

  • E22: Race Night #15, August 29, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
Uncle Don nailed the set-up and the car was quick. We won our Heat (the quick group of Senior cars) by leading every lap. We started 8th in the Feature, and quickly moved to 4th. However, we got hit from behind by #6, spun, and got hit hard by #76. We continued although the car wasn't nearly as good. Later we got hit again and our right rear tire started to go flat. We pitted, re-joined the field only to have our clutch fail. A rough night for us and a very rough night (one driver was 'parked' for rough driving) for the final night of CASCAR Junior racing.

  • E21: Race Night #15, August 22, 2001.
Racing was rained out - the final night of racing will now run on AUGUST 29TH.

  • E20: Race Night #14, August 18, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
The only comment on the night's racing that we can offer is that we are very disappointed by the treatment that we received from the officials at Grand Bend Speedway, and the lack of support from CASCAR officials as well.

  • E19: Race Night #13, August 15, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
The weather was perfect and the racing was pretty good too. A small change made the car even better than last week and we were as quick as we have ever been in Practice. In our Heat we grabbed the lead on the first lap and opened up a huge lead. Our clutch flew apart on the last turn but we still won. We started the Feature in 8th and climbed to 5th, behind #76 who drove a great line preventing us from passing. We were a bit frustrated by also happy with how good the car was working tonight.

  • E18: Race Night #12, August 08, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
Wow, it was a HOT night at Delaware, in more ways than one. A couple of drivers were black flagged for rough driving, there were a couple of hard crashes, and a Senior car was disqualified. After extensive work by Uncle Don the car was ready and it felt great in Practice. During the Heat we got bounced around by just about everyone and felt lucky the car still drove ok. In the Feature we started 10th and climbed through the field to 3rd. On the last lap #6 got under us in turn 4 and we crossed the finish line together. We thought we got 3rd, so did he, so did many fans. The official scorers placed him in 3rd and us in 4th - and its their call that counts. We went to tech just in case while he didn't (thinking he was 4th). He was disqualified for not going to tech so we end up 3rd anyway. Tough on #6 but those are the rules I guess.

  • E17: Junior Late Model Race #3, August 05, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
This was our first trip to Barrie Speedway. In Practice the car was ok, but we tried to loosen it up a bit - but we went too far and the car was terrible early in the first Heat. We tightened it up a bit and started 9th in the Feature. It was good early but as the race went on it got real tight, we could do no better than 7th.

  • E16: Race Night #11, August 01, 2001.    [PICTURES]   [RACE RESULTS]
A week off + a full moon = a strange night. Chris Bladek (#22) ended up on his roof, Katlynn Freel's engine fell out, Jessy Cohoon (#04) caught fire(!) and well-timed cautions let us survive mysterious fuel system troubles. We started 14th in the Feature, moved up a bit but lost power and had to pit - on a caution. The car re-fired, we joined the race at the back, but it died again a couple of laps later. We pitted - again on a caution - and tried a new fuel filter. We joined the race again at the back and managed to climb back to 7th place - a lucky finish thanks to the long cautions that gave us time for repairs.

  • Race Night #10, July 25, 2001.
Racing was cancelled due to rain.

  • E14: Race Night #9, July 18, 2001.    [PICTURES]   [RACE RESULTS]
After Flamboro we were anxious to get racing again. The car was a bit tight in Practice and the Heat Race. We adjusted pressures and started the Feature in 12th place. We made some good progress early but around mid-race #7 bumped #77 right into our path coming out of Turn 4. We t-boned #77, breaking our front left kingpin and cracking the body in several spots. We made repairs and resumed racing - finishing in 13th place. That's racing.

  • E13: Junior Late Model Race #2, July 14, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
This was our first trip to Flamboro Speedway in 2001. We could run pretty quick, high or low, in Practice. In our Heat Race we finished first. We lined up 9th for the Feature. We were able to work the high line and got into first place quickly. As the race wore on we started to push. A mid-race caution allowed the tires to cool down and we held on for the win with #19, #22, and #2 hot on our heels. Thanks to Brad Clarke for putting on a great show.

  • E12: Race Night #8, July 11, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
It was a pretty rough night in both the Junior and Senior Divisions - lots of banging and cautions - maybe due to our layoff last week. The car was loose in practice, so we tightened it a bit using a tire pressure adjustment. It helped and we ran well in the Heat #2 (the fast group) finishing third. We started 6th in the Feature, ran as high as 3rd but got 'freight-trained' when we missed our line going into turn 1 at mid-race. We fell back to 9th and then worked our way to 5th by the end of the race.

  • Race Night #7, July 04, 2001.
Racing was cancelled due to severe thunderstorms in the area.

  • E11: Race Night #6, June 27, 2001.    [PICTURES]   [RACE RESULTS]
On a hot, humid night we really wanted to change our racing luck. In Heat #1 we started 5th, challenged #91 for 2nd right to the last turn but settled for 3rd place. That put us on the outside pole for the Feature. We got a great start and jumped into first. We drove hard, held our line, and led the entire race! We passed a post race tear-down and left the track much happier than we have in the past few weeks.

  • E10: Race Night #5, June 20, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
On a warm night our car was very loose in Practice. In Heat #1 were able to move from 8th to 5th, but no better. We started the Feature in 9th, and started to move through the field behind #6. About half-way #10 decided he wanted our low line and he came down into us hard, breaking the body and the front right kingpin. We limped around the rest of the way for another disappointing finish. Our luck will change - right?!

  • E09: Race Night #4, June 16, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
This was our first trip to Grand Bend Speedway, a track that owes us some racing luck. We were decent in Practice and ran well in Heat 1, finishing second. We started 3rd in the Feature and quickly moved into 2nd behind #22. Five or 6 laps in #76 made it 3-wide as we all encountered slow traffic. We got squeezed on both sides and bounced into the air. When we came down we lost the chain. Brian Cohoon (#4 crew chief) helped make repairs under the caution and we then worked our way from 16th to 9th. The track still owes us!

  • E06: Race Night #3, June 13, 2001.    [RACE RESULTS]
It was an extremely hot night and emotions got hot as the night went on. We found ourselves fighting a loose car in Practice and in Heat 1. The Feature was rough and we were hit 4 or 5 times including one blow that broke a front tie-rod, ending any chance for a good finish (we had to go to the pits for repairs). Some drivers had better get control of their cars or someone's going to get hurt.

  • E05: Race Night #2, June 6, 2001.    [PICTURES]   [RACE RESULTS]
No off road adventures tonight. Uncle Don worked hard to fix the car and it paid off. While the car was still tight, we were able to make a couple of nice passes and won Heat 1 - our first win of the season. We started the Feature in fourth, moved to the front and led until lap 23 (of 25) when #6 was able to get underneath us. We ended up 3rd, passed tech, and were happy to go home knowing that we are starting to get the car sorted out.

  • E04: Race Night #1, May 30, 2001.    [PICTURES]   [RACE RESULTS]
The season opener was a bit frustrating as we fought a severe 'push' all night long. We finished 5th in Heat 1, and started 9th in the Feature. We spun off the track (while in 8th place). A bad start to the year.

  • E02: MOPAR 250 Demonstration Race, May 20, 2001.    [PICTURES]
This was a chance to meet the fans, pay tribute to Dale Earnhardt (on the pace lap), and run on the full 1/2 mile Delaware oval. In the race we charged from the back of the pack (after a slow start) to finish 3rd.
