STAN HARBORNE
"SPIRIT OF RACING" AWARD WINNER
In May of 2002 Delaware Speedway lost a member of its racing family when Stan Harborne passed away due to a heart attack while on the track. While the entire Delaware Speedway family shared the sadness of Stan's passing, they also wanted to celebrate Stan's life and his dedication to racing at Delaware Speedway. As a result the Stan Harborne "Spirit of Racing" Award was established.
The Award is presented to persons who best exemplify the qualities that Stan brought to the track. Those qualities included dedication, teamwork, enthusiasm, sportsmanship, commitment, originality, and a strong sense of family. Nominations are solicited from all registered drivers and teams at the Speedway, the Delaware Speedway Team reviews the nominations and selects the annual award winner.
