OVER THE YEARS

2009 SUPER STOCK

CANADA DAY 2011

|
In the fall of 2003 we learned that CASCAR Super Series driver Kelly Williams was selling her #31 Street Stock. Kelly, the first female driver to capture a win in CASCAR racing, took a year off from Super Series racing in 2003. She still wanted to enjoy racing so she purchased the #20 Delaware Street Stock from Don McRae. She raced the car at Delaware, Sunset, and Flamboro speedways. We visited her shop and were able to put together a deal for the car (sans engine).

OPENING NIGHT! |
Our race car came to be known as "Gert". Gert gave us lots of fun during our first year of Street Stock racing, including a FEATURE WIN!
In November 2004 we purchased a new car from Dave Lawrence - "Scarlett" - for the 2005 season. Scarlett was a quick car but we had a lot of bad luck with her and Gert filled in well during the year.
Gert also spent a few laps as #6. Kevin Trevellin borrowed Gert for the Kendal Street Stock Showdown, a bad clutch prevented her from showing her stuff during the race.
SPONSOR & TEAM APPRECIATION DAYS
Uncle Don installed a second seat (with full 5-point harness) on the passenger side of Gert so that we could give friends and fans a 4 or 5-lap ride around Delaware Speedway. Gert was a big hit and a regular feature at our annual 'Sponsor Days'.

SUPER STOCK #3
In 2009 Gert was promoted to the Super Stock Division at Delaware Speedway. Despite her humble origins Gert was able to get up to speed and be competitive in Super Stock. At the end of the season Gert was driven by Delaware veteran Duane Manning.
FLAMBORO SPEEDWAY THUNDER CAR
In 2011 Gert was shipped off to Flamboro Speedway to become a Thunder Car. On July 1, 2011 Gert made her debut in the "Canada Day Race of Champions", driven by NASCAR veteran driver Ernie Irvan!
