DARRELL LAKE > FEATURE WINLAKE EARNS FIRST CAREER PETERBILT SUPER STOCK WIN May 11, 2007 By: John Houghton, Delaware Speedway Darrell Lake (#77) of London pulled off his first ever career feature win in the 25-lap Peterbilt of Ontario Super Stock event Friday evening at Delaware Speedway. Lake had to fend off serious charges from Dan Monaghan (#89) of Windsor who at times was able to catch Lake and tap his bumper. Lake held off Monaghan's charges to win the event. Lake's win comes in his fourth year in the division after graduating from the Delaware Speedway Krown Body Maintenance Junior Racing League. Monaghan would finish the race in second, Andrew Perkins (#3) of London would finish third.
The new name “Peterbilt of Ontario Super Stocks” is a milestone for the division. Not only does it represent the support of a new title sponsor, but also is a shift from the name the division has been known as for many years; the “Street Stocks”. The new name, widely praised by competitors, reflects the evolution the class in recent years.
