Dave Lawrence was a three-time Delaware Street Stock Champion, and one of the most respected and loved racers that ever put a wheel on Delaware Speedway. Dave passed away in his sleep on June 17, 2006. The entire Delaware Speedway racing community was devastated to hear the news of Dave's passing.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dave's family - Heather, Kris, Jordan - and the B.T. Racing Team. They have lost a wonderful husband, father, and friend.
Dave touched so many people - he was a great friend, mentor, a keen competitor, and a very positive influence on everyone he met. He will never be replaced, it will never be the same at the race track again. But we can cherish our memories of Dave, and try to live life as Dave did. And we can go racing, that's the way that Dave would want it.
In 2006 Dave's long time friend Duane Manning took over driving the #28 Street Stock and finished second in the season standings. Duane will return to Delaware Speedway in 2007, along with Dave's sons Kris and Joe, and his son Lucas. They will run in the Junior Racing League at Delaware Speedway.
